An Outdated Prescription Is Toxic For Your Life

A few months ago I went for my annual eye exam and got a new eyeglass prescription. The prescription was a bit too strong and I had to go back to have the eye exam reviewed.  Unfortunately, that last prescription left me with constant headaches and visibility issues

After what seemed like a lifetime of going back and forth with the optical shop and eye doctor’s office trying to figure out what was wrong, I finally realized what had happened.  Apparently, during my last visit to the optical shop I had accidentally pulled out an outdated prescription from a stack of receipts from my wallet and given it to the optician (don’t ask why the Optician, a professional, would decide to fill an outdated prescription, let me talk about my responsibility in the situation).   Unfortunately due to that single mistake I ended up paying a hefty price with my health.

It was a trying time but it came with great lessons on health and life. Lessons learned:

  • Take responsibility for your own mistakes and own up to them. It’s the only way to start healing.
  • Pay attention to what you are doing because a slight mistake can be very costly. I not only lost time and money but also put my mental health and physical  health at risk.
  • What non-essentials items are you dragging around in your present life?  Why was I still carrying an outdated script? Are you staying relevant or are you walking around with baggage from yesteryears?  In order to stay relevant, do a regular clean up of issues in your life.
  • For a clearer vision keep your life prescriptions updated, otherwise you will be viewing life with the wrong lens; you will end up viewing life issues in the wrong context.  Just because something worked in the past doesn’t mean that it will work in your now.  This by itself is a whole lesson on emotional intelligence.

If I had done some of  these things I could have saved myself all the stress and resources that put my life at risk
